Doing good – for others and yourself: staff at the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group took up the challenge.

177 million steps for a good cause

The goal for each and every participant in the 2017 “walk4life” challenge was to walk at least 10,000 steps every day for seven weeks. Each time the weekly target was achieved, the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group donated 5,000 euros to charity.

336 men and women from across the group took up the challenge and began walking for a good cause and for their own health. At the end of the seven-week period from 3 May to 20 June 2017, they had walked a total of 177 million steps and covered a distance of 2,000 km. The walkers started on this virtual route at our headquarters in Vienna, walked step-by-step to our casinos and WINWIN outlets across the country and then crossed the virtual finishing line back in the capital at Casino Wien.

>>If I realized that I had not yet reached my goal for the day, I went for a walk in the evening. All in all, I thought this was a great initiative because I really had the impression that the group grew closer across Austria – we literally all took a step towards each other!<< Magdalena Kleestorfer, CF Human Resources, Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group
