Partnerships and Activities for the Common Good

As a group of Austrian companies, it is important to us to establish long-term partnerships on equal terms in order to work together to contribute to sustainable development.

We are a good partner for the domestic economy

Our group employs a total of 2,644 people in Austria. Through our close ties to our domestic suppliers and consumer effects, further jobs are created in Austria each year and existing jobs are secured. With the value we create in Austria, the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group makes a significant contribution to the development of the country’s economy.

We have always also been one of the country’s biggest taxpayers. In 2017, our license fees, gaming tax, sales tax, casino tax, salary-related taxes and social security contributions, corporation tax and other tax payments totaled 621.84 million euros.

Being a Good Corporate Citizen

The Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group’s responsibility to society is clearly reflected in our dense network of social, humanitarian, cultural, sports and scientific sponsoring partnerships. Decades-long support for well-known institutions goes hand-in-hand thereby with the sponsoring of new projects.

Casinos Austria already made sponsoring an integral part of its corporate philosophy when the company was founded 50 years ago. The same applies for Austrian Lotteries, which was founded in 1986. The group’s sponsoring strategy covers a broad range of institutions and projects. Diversity and sustainability both assume thereby special significance.

CSR-Partnerships

Our CSR partnerships demonstrate just how important it is to us to be a good corporate citizen.

The goal with these partnerships is to promote sustainable development in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) published by the United Nations.

When selecting our CSR partnerships, we always focus on promoting diversity and social inclusion.

This is illustrated in the following examples (detailed information only available in German):

Corporate Volunteering

We have been giving our staff the opportunity to spend time volunteering for a good cause on full pay since 2013. In 2018, we expanded this program: each member of staff can now spend five working days per year volunteering for non-profit or social organizations and initiatives. Since 2013, 700 members of staff have participated in our corporate volunteering program.

motion4kids - Active for our Future Foundation

In 2017, Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries founded the “Wir bewegen unsere Zukunft” (“Active for our Future”) foundation.

As the most important sponsor of domestic sports and a provider of sports betting products, we consider it our responsibility to motivate young people to be more active. This non-profit foundation offers innovative education projects as catalysts for sports activities. This, in turn, has a positive impact on the health, social interaction and performance potential of the target group, namely children in the 3-10-year-old age group.

Multifaceted Event Provider

Our twelve casinos and dedicated Congress Casino Baden (CCB) event center are great locations for every occasion.

Top service, versatile rooms, good music and high-end cuisine are a guarantee for successful events – from arts and cultural events, comedy shows, concerts, presentations, clubbing events and balls through to slot machine, Blackjack and Poker tournaments.

Austrian Lotteries dedicated event location – Studio 44 – completes  the group’s portfolio with a cutting-edge venue in Vienna.

Our goal for our event locations is to continually increase the number of events that are organized as certified ‘Green Events’ or ‘ÖkoEvents’. In 2017, Studio 44 hosted seven such Green Events.
