As an Austrian company, Österreichische Sportwetten GmbH offers its products exclusively on the domestic market under the tipp3 brand. tipp3 products are sold primarily via Austrian Lotteries retail outlets. Accordingly, tobacconists constitute one of tipp3’s primary sales partners.
Österreichische Sportwetten GmbH has also been offering system solutions for other betting providers and companies active in the sports betting sector under the BGS – Better Game Solutions – brand since 2010.
There were a number of product launches at tipp3 in 2018. At the start of the year, it launched its new tipp3 smartphone app. Customers can now compile their bets whenever they like and are notified by the app if they win. Winnings are still paid out at the retail outlets, in this case by scanning the barcode in the notification from the app. This was followed in March by the launch of the tipp3 Club bonus program with the slogan “Make the most of your bet”. The new bonus program offers regular and new customers plenty of benefits and additional chances of winning: prizes in 2018 included a trip to Moscow with the manager of the Austrian national soccer team, Franco Foda.
Österreichische Sportwetten GmbH holds licenses from all nine federal states in Austria to operate sports betting. The company was founded in April 2000, with the first tipp3 bet placed on 24 August 2001.
In Austria, sports betting is classed as a game of skill and is thus not subject to the provisions of the Austrian Gaming Act; legislative power for sports betting rests with the individual federal states.
